The Military Historical Society of Australia was founded in Melbourne in 1957.  Its aims are the encouragement and pursuit of study and research in military history, customs, traditions, dress, arms, equipment and kindred matters; the promotion of public interest and knowledge in these subjects, and the preservation of historical military objects with particular reference to the armed forces of Australia.

We specialise in quality secondhand military history books, including Military Aviation, Naval History, Unit History, Prisoners of War, World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War and Women in War. We also carry a broad range of military history covering a number of categories including 20th century conflicts, British Military, German Military and Colonial conflicts.

Library Charges
  • Free for members. Non-members require a reader's ticket ($15 for 7 days, $30 for 28 days)
Research Costs
  • For an initial reply, assessing the problem and the probable amount of research needed, the standard fee is $11.00, to be sent with the written enquiry. Should the inquirer choose to have the research done, the rate is $33.00 per hour, with a minimum charge of $16.50.
