A request from one of the 'old boys' to reminisce with others from his time in the Home is the nucleus to the planning of this reunion. Many have moved far and wide and we want to cast the net Australia-wide. There will be one more 'Old Boys' Day' for the Old Boys of any era (and their families) to reconnect.

The purpose-built Kennion House in Smith Street Walkerville opened its doors in 1926 and was 'home' to boys for a further 60 years before it closed in 1984. We hope to have it open one more time.

More details will be given on application: Bookings essential for catering purposes - enquiries and bookings : Lyn O'Grady 088269 5982 - "Old Boys' Reunion" Walkerville Historical Society PO Box 54 Walkerville 5081.

"Kennion House Old Boys' Day" success

Such a busy weekend but for those who could come, we hope had a good time.

Thanks to St Andrew's School for allowing us to walk through the old home (now classrooms) there was much reminiscing.

One memory that seemed to be shared by all the boys of any era was running down the passage and sliding on socks much of the way.  One said that they used to have races down the passage with a boy sitting on a football jumper and the other pulling the arms, racing another to the end of the passage.

Another memory was the clothing room - a communal wardrobe.  One 'old boy' said he used to slip in there after bedtime and find better underpants to wear from the piles of donated clothes.

Other 'old boys' are welcome to communicate through this site, or by mail to Box 54, Walkerville 5081
