This presentation by Janette Pelosi will showcase the Letters received requesting approval for entertainments and performances from the Colonial Secretary. These reveal a wealth of information on performances and entertainments in Sydney, country towns and Victoria (to 1850). Such entertainments including plays in both Sydney and country theatres, concerts, circus performances, waxworks, ventriloquism and fantoccini to name a few.
