Malmsbury Viaduct 150th Anniversary Celebrations
Malmsbury is celebrating the 150th anniversary of insertion of the final keystone of the historic bluestone railway viaduct, one of
iconic and major landmarks. Malmsbury Historical Society is creating a themed heritage display for the occasion including copies of the original viaduct plans and photographs. This will be open 23-24 Oct.
Local community group Inksync, in conjunction with the Historical Society is also creating a public art show and other activities based on the same theme. Old-time games in the gardens, live music, demonstrations, railways riot re-enactment and CFA BBQ are all currently being planned. The event is open to the public. Are you interested in railway history? Do you have an ancestor who worked on the local railway works, was a stonemason in the area, was a former station master? Or are you just interested in a bit of fun and want a good excuse to visit historic Malmsbury for a BYO picnic? For further details contact Malmsbury Historical Society Inc. via:
