Over the past century Eden Park has been the venue for many of the great sporting moments in New Zealand history. Many of the stories surrounding the park and great sporting occasions it has hosted also mirror the social development of New Zealand society. Graham Walton, Eden Park's resident historian and archivist, has a long family involvement going back to its earliest years. He has recently headed up a project to complete a book on the history of Eden Park which will be on sale in the bookstores from 1 June. He will speak on the history of the park from its earliest years to the present time as it prepares to host the Rugby World Cup. His talk which will be illustrated with a selection of photographs from the past 100 years and will cover some of the personalities and performances which have made Eden Park what it is today, an international sporting icon.
