A full-day family history research event comprised of seminars by international experts and specialist Auckland Libraries staff.
Make real progress in your family history research with a full day of advice, tips and tricks from Josh Taylor, one of the lead genealogists at family history research website FindMyPast US. Josh and other experts will help you break down any brick walls you've reached in your research and find your way back into the past.
Come just for one seminar or stay all day!

10am - 12pm: Research session
The day begins with a research session with Vicki and Mel from FindMyPast AU, Josh Taylor from FindMyPast US, Jan Gow QSM FSG and specialist Auckland Libraries staff. Scottish family history website ScotlandsPeople will also be available for free for one day only.
12pm - 1.30pm: SEMINAR:- Learn how to use the British Newspaper Archive
Discover how to get the most out of this useful archive with Josh Taylor.
LUNCH: Please bring your own or venture out to nearby shops and cafes.
2pm: Research session

3.30pm: Afternoon tea break - tea and coffee available.
4pm - 5.30pm: SEMINAR:- Family history's next generation with Josh Taylor
Family history is a great way of attracting youth to history and teaching them research skills that will serve them through their academic life and beyond. Young people are just as fascinated by their personal histories as older people - how do we tap into this and make it relevant to them?
This seminar is aimed at teachers, librarians, parents, youth group leaders and anyone else with an interest in passing family history on to the next generation.

6pm - 7.30pm: SEMINAR:- Ensuring success: making the most of what’s online with Josh Taylor
With millions of records to search, and not enough hours in each day, online family history research can seem daunting. Discover ways to plan and prepare for your online searches, and find out about tips, tricks, and tools to manage your time online and maximise your search results.
Session ends 7.30pm
Ten PCs will be available for use, but customers are encouraged to bring laptops and use the free wi-fi at Central City Library. Memory sticks and digital cameras may also prove useful.
