In Queensland, the challenge of heat and humidity lead to the development of a ‘hot modernism’.

As part of State Library of Queensland’s latest exhibition ‘Hot Modernism’, join Professor Tom Avermaete as he offers an insight into other (hot) modernisms that developed around the globe and teases out the similarities and differences with Queensland’s mid-century architecture.

Tom Avermaete is a Professor of Architecture at the Technical University of Delft and author of several books, including Another Modern: the Post-War Architecture and Urbanism of Candilis-Josic-Woods.

Come early for a free ‘Hot Modernism’ exhibition tour with guest architect Alice Hampson (6pm, bookings required).
