WHO WE ARE
The Surf Coast Family History Group is a non-profit organization staffed by volunteers, and is a sub-group of the Anglesea and District Historical Society. Our aim is to help our members research their family history. We welcome new members and in 2010 decided to expand our services to include Saturdays for people who are unable to utilize these services during the week.
We are located in the Anglesea Historical Society House and are open for 2 sessions per week, as well as for appointments. Our great strength is that we have highly skilled researchers as members who run all our open sessions, as well as assisting members with Australian and overseas research.
This is facilitated by having a network of computers and, importantly, internet access for members to use. There is more genealogical information being released around the world every day and our members keep abreast of the latest developments. We have an extensive library of books, CDs, magazines and newsletters, microfiche and a microfiche reader.
There is great interest in family history now, thanks to the well known series ‘Who do you think you are?’ Many people are interested in finding their family history for social and medical reasons.
