The first public meeting was held in November 1994 and it was decided to form a Family History Group, which was to be a sub committee of the Parramatta & District Historical Society Inc. formed in 1913.

Meetings are held the first Saturday of each month (except January) at 1.30pm at the Hambledon Cottage, Coach House, cnr 63 Hassall Street & Gregory Place Parramatta.

The Society has published four Parramatta Cemetery books and the Family History Group has published two Parramatta Pioneer Registers.
