Bellarine Historical Society Inc.
The Bellarine Historical Society was formed to preserve the history of the Bellarine Peninsula and its municipality of the Shire of Bellarine [later Bellarine Rural City Council]. This objective became even more important from the early 1990s when the council was absorbed into the City of Greater Geelong.
The Old Court House Museum is the home of the society and houses many items belonging to the former Shire. The Research Centre at the museum includes a vast collection of local and family history sources together with a large research library belonging to the Geelong Family History Group.
Bellarine Historical Society volunteers have indexed many of the Shire and Court records - a number of these can be searched on our web site.
