Photos from last weekend’s expo at Ballarat

Here are some photos of the Central Highlands Historical Association Family and Local History Expo at Ballarat last weekend.

I hope to see some of you at the Western Victoria & South Eastern South Australia Family History Expo at Stawell, Victoria this coming weekend. Come along to see about 30 societies and other exhibitors. Look out for special offers and prizes. Listen to presantations from six speakers.

Unlock the Past on the road

Shauna and I will be on the road at two events in Victoria and two in Queensland over the next few weeks. We will be exhibiting as Unlock the Past, World Vital Records Australasia and Gould Genealogy & History at the first three and speaking at some. If you can get along, please make yourself known and ask us about Unlock the Past and World Vital Records Australasia which is about to launch with 50 million Australasian records online – and much more.

More than just an events resource

We introduced Unlock the Past in our previous post, writing mainly about our foundation as an events resource. But Unlock the Past will be much more than this. We plan to develop the web site as a significant history and genealogy resource and gateway. Much of our focus is on reaching people in the traditional ways such as events and publishing. But we want to tap into new technologies to add much more value and to reach those who can’t get to events. The aim is also reach a wider, younger audience generally.

Unlock The Past - Beginnings

Unlock The Past is an exciting new venture that began with discussions between Shauna Hicks (Shauna Hicks History Enterprises) and Alan Phillips (Gould Genealogy & History, Archive Digital Books Australasia) in June of this year.
