What is the earliest known arrival date of any of your ancestors to Australia or NZ?
Here are the results of our 36th Unlock the Past poll - What is the earliest known arrival date of any of you ancestors in Australia or NZ? Votes were cast by 357 people. The results are summarised in the table below.
As with the poll we conducted in 2010, 1821 to 1840 is the period during which the earliest ancestor of most people arrived - and the percentage arriving remained constant between the two polls. In the latest poll the second most common period was 1788 to 1800 - even though it covers a smaller range of years. The general pattern follows that of the 2010 poll with almost everyone having an arrival during the period prior to 1880 and no-one having their most recent arrival since 2001.
